Dr. Xiongming Du is a distinguished Chinese life scientist and Professor at the National Nanfan Research Institute (Sanya), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, with a lifelong commitment to innovation, philosophical thinking, and uncovering the fundamental mechanisms of plant life for sustainable agriculture and human well-being. He earned his PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Nanjing Agricultural University and has dedicated more than three decades to cotton genetics and breeding at the Institute of Cotton Research, CAAS, where he has served as Professor, Dean of the Cotton Germplasm Division, and Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology. Dr. Du has published over 240 scientific papers with more than 6,600 citations (H-index 35), making seminal contributions to cotton genomics, fiber development, stress tolerance, and germplasm innovation, and establishing himself as an internationally recognized leader in plant genetics and crop improvement.
