Dr. Wei Li is an Associate Professor and Lab Director at the Department of Hematology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics and completed postdoctoral training in clinical medicine. His research centers on erythroid development, hematological malignancies, and disease genomics, with a strong emphasis on genetic mechanisms underlying red cell disorders and cancer. Dr. Vanderlei Bagnato is a distinguished physicist and engineer whose illustrious career spans over four decades of groundbreaking research, academic leadership, and innovation in optics, photonics, and biomedical applications of laser technology. He earned dual B.S. degrees in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR) and in Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP), followed by an M.S. in Physics from USP and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Currently, he serves as a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University while holding a full professorship at the Institute of Physics at São Carlos (IFSC/USP), Brazil. Over the years, Dr. Bagnato has held numerous prestigious roles, including Director of IFSC, Coordinator of the USP Innovation Agency, and long-term Coordinator of Brazil’s National Institute of Science and Technology of Optics and Photonics. His pioneering research and leadership have earned him global recognition and a multitude of honors, such as election to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the Willis E. Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics, and the Robert E. Hopkins Leadership Award from Optica. He has also been honored with major national and international distinctions, including Brazil’s Admiral Álvaro Alberto Award, the CBMM Science & Technology Award, and the Commander of the National Order of Scientific Merit. Dr. Bagnato’s current research is supported by major grants such as the Texas Governor’s University Research Initiative and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, focusing on advanced biophotonics, laser therapy, and machine learning applications for healthcare and material analysis. Through his scientific leadership, prolific research output, and commitment to innovation, Dr. Vanderlei Bagnato continues to shape the future of optics and photonics in both fundamental science and translational biomedical engineering.
