Dr. Amir Sohail, son of Guldar Shah, is a Pakistani plant geneticist specializing in Crop Genetics and Breeding, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher (Type A) in the Germplasm Preservation and Genetic Improvement of Tropical Rice Group at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. He earned his Ph.D. in Crop Genetics and Breeding  from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China National Rice Research Institute, following an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, Pakistan. His research focuses on gene mapping, QTL analysis, molecular and mutation breeding, genome editing, and functional genomics in rice, with extensive expertise in CRISPR/Cas9, RNA-Seq, and advanced molecular assays. Dr. Sohail has conducted significant postdoctoral and doctoral research on rice flowering regulation, male sterility, heading date QTLs, and plant architecture, alongside earlier work on maize, mungbean, wheat, and chickpea improvement. He has authored 50+ peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals with a cumulative SCI impact factor of 77 and serves as a reviewer for journals including Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, Frontiers in Plant Science, and Acta Physiologiae Plantarum.
